Hamburger SV defender Lukas Bornschein has joined VfL Osnabrück on a free transfer. The 21-year-old centre-back came through the youth ranks at the Rothosen and played for the HSV reserve team in the Regionalliga Nord for three seasons. In 75 games, he scored four goals. "Lukas brings a high learning capacity, sense of responsibility and clarity to his game. We want to promote these qualities in young players and develop them together," said Technical Director Daniel Latkowski. Sporting Director Joe Enochs added: "We want to continue our path with players who have proven themselves in the Regionalliga, developed themselves further and taken the next step in their careers with us." Bornschein said: "VfL has shown me a clear path from the start. I felt that there is trust in young players here and that I can develop both physically and personally."
