Miro Muheim scored a last-gasp winner to give Hamburger SV a dramatic 3-2 away victory at 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday. The 28-year-old defender struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time to seal his first Bundesliga goal for HSV, who move up to 12th place with six points.
Yussuf Poulsen put HSV ahead in the 12th minute, but Sebastian Bornauw scored an unfortunate own goal just before half-time. After the break, Bénie Conte made it 2-1 to Hoffenheim in the 53rd minute. Coach Merlin Polzin reacted to the injury of captain Nicolai Remberg, who suffered a cruciate ligament tear shortly before the interval, by introducing Miro Muheim. The substitute delivered a chip-flank for Terem Moffi to head home an 83rd-minute equaliser. "A very, very cool moment," said Muheim, whose late strike secured all three points.
The victory marks a third consecutive win for Hamburger SV, continuing a positive run after two heavy defeats against Leipzig and Mainz. It demonstrates the team's resilience in tough situations. The next challenge is a home fixture against VfB Stuttgart on 17 October, against their neighbours in 11th place. The squad must now cope with key absences while maintaining this upward trend in form.
