Hamburger SV draws 1:1 in Mainz and remains unbeaten in the Bundesliga. HSV impresses with strong start, but Nadiem Amiri scores the equalizer. The 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Hamburger SV deliver a hard-fought match, the draw ultimately helps the promoted team, who remain unbeaten in the second half of the Bundesliga season. The Hamburgers saved a 1:1 draw at the start of the 23rd matchday and are thus unbeaten for six games. With 26 points, the HSV preserved its cushion over the relegation zone. The Mainzers also continued their good trend, remaining unbeaten in their fifth home game under coach Urs Fischer. Nadiem Amiri brought the Mainzers into the lead in the 42nd minute, Fabio Vieira scored the equalizer after the break. The equalizer cost the Mainzers the home win, it would have been the ideal gift for coach Urs Fischer, who celebrated his 60th birthday on Friday. The team had already given him a birthday serenade in the morning, revealed the oldest coach in the Bundesliga in the Sportschau interview. "They played better football than they sang this morning." Fischer was particularly pleased with his team's reaction after the first 30 minutes, in which it "had no access". "We did well after that, we also had the chances to decide the game. Every point can help us in our situation." Also, HSV coach Merlin Polzin spoke in the Sportschau interview about a won point: "Mainz is incredibly stable in the last weeks. It's not easy to survive here. This shows how far we have come and how we have developed." The HSV, who had recently won two games against the direct competitors Union Berlin and Heidenheim, also came to Mainz with a lot of self-confidence. The Hamburgers took control after a few minutes, settled in the Mainzer half and had their first chance after 20 minutes: Warmed Omari had a free path at the penalty area, but Daniel Batz parried strongly. Five minutes later, the Mainzer goalkeeper had to save again, deflected Glatzel's shot. Mainz had trouble freeing themselves, but almost scored in the first counter: Danny Da Costa slipped through to Nadiem Amiri, who was about to shoot, but Bakery Jatta decisively intervened (27.). Nadiem Amiri from Mainz in a duel with Hamburg's Nicolai Remberg The chance seemed like a wake-up call for the Mainzers, who now entered the game with more aggression, particularly in the duels: Silas, who had already been warned, had good luck that he didn't have to leave the pitch before the break after a hard tackle against Nicolas Capaldo (37.). The more bitter for HSV, that Silas shortly afterwards initiated the Mainzer lead-in over the right flank: Da Costa flanked sharply into the penalty area, Amiri took the ball impressively directly from the turn and set it exactly into the long corner. Silas remained in the cabin, as expected, but the game remained a fiercely contested, at times over-aggressive one: Dominik Kohr, also already warned, hit Miro Muheim with his long leg, referee Robin Braun left the possible second yellow card. Coach Fischer also took Kohr off, however.
